Traffic light control systems are widely used to monitor and control the flow of automobiles through the junction of many roads. They aim to realize smooth motion of cars in the transportation routes. However, the synchronization of multiple traffic light systems at adjacent intersections is a complicated problem given the various parameters involved. PPK Technology implements green wave linking using wireless RF module for VA operations and GPS Multiplan synchronization for non-VA operations
The GPS (Global Positioning System) is a spaced-based radio navigation system. It is a global navigation satellite system that provides geo-location and time information to a GPS receiver anywhere on or near the Earth. For GPS based synchronization, the MATC Controller use a GPS module which synchronizes the time of nearby controllers and activates linking based on pre-set Multiplan time. GPS based synchronization unlike other communication based linking of traffic junctions doesn’t require any RF or microwave. Instead it uses GPS technology to link and synchronize two junctions.
